COURSE DISCRIPTION

MyoOsteo means: muscle/bone, this is my legal trademark and I chose this name because I feel massage therapy is a direct application to the relationship between the muscles of the body and the bones that they move. This does not in any way have a meaning of bone manipulation.

The classes start with the basic training of Swedish massage which I call “Ocean sway massage” for the reason of the body movement that is performed during this modality, also while performing a proper body dynamics. Body dynamics helps you produce power while saving your energy. Students will learn and achieve a higher understanding of the body as they progress through the program. Great time is spent on Anatomy for the complete understanding of the muscles and how they function in relationship to the whole body. With this knowledge, students learn to apply Swedish massage to the body to help aid in a health maintenance program for each individual. Students learn how to take in history of their clients’ health and add their observation of their body movements and learn to plan a session that is tailored just for this individual. Students learn how to take records of their clients’ progress and correspond with the medical field when necessary.

                This course is a complete study of Massage therapy. Students will learn from top of the line massage therapy training books from LWW. And “The trail guide to the body”. Books are provided for study, homework, quizzes and can be purchased.  Students will learn a variety of modalities that compliment Swedish massage; some are trigger point, tender point, myofasical release, and deep tissue. Students will be given real-life situations to analyze and use simulations, role-playing, research, and independent study in class. The classes have planned repetition and regular check that students understand material before moving on to new material. Students are appropriately supervised during practical activities, and are given in-the-moment feedback on practical skills. There is ample time given for hands-on experience. There are many learning aids available in the class, such as; videos, models, charts and more.

                Classes start on time and end on time, because time is of value classes are scheduled tight with information for each subject matter. Students are expected to show up and be prepared; dress code is casual, but proper. I am aware of cultural diversity, generational diversity, and curtail sexual innuendo in the classes. I raise awareness of ways to desexualize massage in the class. At no time are snide remarks, sarcasm, kidding around or any other behaviors that might embarrass someone aloud. The classes are designed to be a positive environment to learn in.

                Students are encouraged to give feedback on the class structure and progress. Periodically I hold class discussions to determine how students are feeling about class content and learning in general. There are quizzes and homework assignments that are given and are promptly returned with written feedback.

                This program was designed to prepare a Student to practice Massage Therapy with confidence, ethics, and responsibility. It is a great opportunity to make a difference in your life and a clients’ life. POLICY CONTRACT:

    THE COURSE REFUND POLICIE:  FULLY REFUNDABLE UP TILL THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS. THE COURSE IS NON-REFUNDABLE ONCE YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE BOOKS. [IN CASE OF HEALTH ISSUES OR EMERGENCES YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PICK UP AN ALTERNATE DATE TO ATTEND WITHIN A NINE MONTH PERIOD AFTER THE ORIGINAL DATE TO FINISH THE COURSE.( WHICH IS ONE YEAR OF STARTING DATE)

THE GRADING AND ATTENDANCE POLICIES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

    GRADING IS PASS OR FAIL; THIS IS DETERMEND AT THE TIME OF YOUR FINAL PRACTICAL TEST UPON COMPLETION OF EACH LEVEL OF THE COURSE. IN THE CASE OF FAILURE, YOU ARE GIVEN A DISCOUNT OF (HALF OFF) ON CLASS TIME TO FINISH LEARNING THE MODALITY AND RE-TEST BY A PRACTICAL TEST TILL YOU PASS OR YOUR ONE YEAR FINISH DATE HAS EXPIRED.

    ATTENDANCE POLICIE: IS THAT ALL HOURS MISSED WILL HAVE TO BE MADE UP IN A TIMELY FASHION. NO EXTRA FEE WILL BE CHARGE IF COURSE IS FINISHED ON PROJECTION OF STUDENTS COMPLETION TIME(WHICH IS ONE YEAR OF YOUR START DATE). IN THE CASE OF THE STUDENT NOT "RETAKING CLASS MAKE-UP TIME",  WITHIN THE ONE YEAR PERIOD OF START DATE, THE STUDENT FOFITS THE CLASS AND HOURS. AT THIS TIME THE STUDENT WOULD HAVE TO ENROLL IN THE PROGRAM AGAIN WITH FULL PAYMENT. 

  TO MAKE THIS PERFECTLY CLEAR, ONCE YOU START THIS PROGRAM YOU HAVE ONE YEAR OF YOUR STARTING DATE TO COMPLETE ALL 8 LEVELS OF THIS PROGRAM. AT ANY TIME YOU STOP TAKING LEVELS OF THIS COURSE AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH TIME TO FINISH THE REST OF THE LEVELS UNCOMPLETED WITH IN THE  ONE YEAR OF YOUR START DATE.  YOU MUST ENROLL AGAIN AND START ALL OVER WITH FULL PAYMENT DUE.
